Here’s a quick list of the newest features now available in Release 6.4:
■Enable SNMP on Cisco Vision Director
■Enable Syslog Support from Director to an External Server
Release 6.4 uses new firmware, 8.3.22. All the supported DMPs use this new firmware. Firmware 8.3.22 uses
Chromium 69.
This allows you to deploy the latest firmware to your DMPs. It is the latest verified and tested DMP firmware release for Cisco Vision Director 6.4.
1. Click More > Manage Software.
2. Click the DMP Firmware tab.
3. Select the DMP Series to which you need to upload new firmware.
4. Click the Upload icon. The DMP Firmware dialog box appears.
5. Click Choose and navigate to the folder with the latest firmware.
6. Click OK. You see the progress bar and then get an Upload Complete confirmation.

When finished, check Firmware Configuration for all Media Players to make certain you have the correct firmware uploaded for your DMP models.
Release 6.4 allows you to enable Cisco Vision Director to respond to Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) information requests sent from a Network Management Server.
To enable the SNMP requests to be processed by Director.
1. Click More > SNMP Configuration (Figure 2). The screen updates showing the configuration and trap thresholds.
2. Click the slider to SNMP enable (Figure 3). Use the scroll bar to see all the Trap Threshold Configurations.
Figure 2 Accessing SNMP for Director
Roll over any fields and see the arrows appear. Make changes, if necessary.
Figure 3 Set SNMP Configuration Information
Note: By default this is not configured. You must enable SNMP and choose settings. Then choose the trap threshold values.
Release 6.4 introduces SNMP support on the DMPs. The version of SNMP supported is SNMP V2C.
To enable the DMP to respond to the SNMP requests from an external Network Management Server. This allows different devices on a network to share information, even if they are running different software and include different hardware devices.
1. Click Configuration > System Configuration > Global DMP Settings > Networking.
2. Select Start SNMP Agent Service (Figure 4) from the Configuration Properties panel.
Figure 4 Enable SNMP on the DMPs
3. Click Edit. The Edit Configuration dialog box appears.
4. Set the Value to “ yes.” Click Save.
Figure 5 Set Start SNMP Agent Service
This registry opens the SNMP port on the device so it is available to receive log files. Now the SNMP service information can be received from the DMP.
Note: The community string for the DMP is “public”. This is not configurable.
1. Use an FTP client program to go to ftp.cisco.com.
2. Log in and use anonymous as the user name and your email address as the password.
3. Issue the cd /pub/mibs command to change directories to /pub/mibs/v2.
Note: If you encounter any problems, try to log in with a minus sign (-) as the first character of your password. This turns off a feature that might be confusing your FTP client program. To download files from Cisco.com, you must use a passive-mode-capable FTP client. Contact your systems administrator to obtain one.
Send any questions, comments, or problem reports about FTP-related issues to Cisco.com Feedback.
The following table lists the MIBs currently supported for Cisco Vision Director.
The following table lists the DMP MIBs currently supported.
Release 6.4 enables the system logs files to be sent to the syslog server from Cisco Vision Director. We added a new configuration property to set in System Configuration interface. The default for this property is “false.” After you configure Director to send the syslog files, set up the external server to receive the files from Cisco Vision Director.
To support system log events to downstream targets.
1. Click Configuration > System Configuration > Dynamic Signage Director Setting > Syslog Configuration.
2. Select Enable Syslog (Figure 6).
3. Click Edit. The Edit Configuration Setting dialog box appears.
4. Select “ true ” from the down arrow and click Save (Figure 7).

Cisco Vision Director forwards the following system log files to the NMS server:
■RFC5424: The latest format of the syslog message defined in RFC5424
■RFC5426: Transports the log through user datagram protocol (UDP)
Now that you have enabled the service, tell Director where to send the syslog files.
To set the syslog IP and Port address:
1. Click Syslog Server IP & port (Figure 8).
2. Click Edit. The Edit Configuration dialog box appears (Figure 9).

4. Click Enable USB or Disable USB.
5. Click Play (Send Command). The Send Command dialog box appears telling you how many DMPs are selected and that action will execute.
Note: When you run the Enable or Disable the USB/SD Card command, the selected DMPs reboot.
6. Click OK to execute command.
Check the enable/disable status of your command in the Compliance tab.
7. With a DMP selected in the list above, click Compliance. Verify the setting and values match (Figure 19).
If the values do not match, Director notifies you that you are non-compliant for that DMP.
Figure 19 Check Compliance Values
Note: The Value on the Device field is the individual DMP value. The Required Value field comes from the global setting. If they don’t match, a pale red highlighted region shows in the Compliance tab. The global setting only takes effect if you provision the DMPs. If individual DMP USB setting is changed in Device Management, the compliance value would not change immediately. Execute a Get Status (Figure 18) command so the DMP gets the latest compliance value.
The “Default DMP Image” displays for about 10 seconds for the following:
■When the VM is Down or powered Off
TIP: If the requirement is to have a static image displayed permanently when no script is running, we recommend that you set up a DMP as decoder with the “Display Streaming” feature configured. This allows you to configure a script applied to this DMP, with a playlist containing the static image you would want to have displayed. This static image will then be multicast streamed out and can be setup as a default channel. This will automatically display when there is no script running.
Using Script Management, we recommend you run a TV On/Off script state / action twice with an interval of 10 seconds or more, to see the improved/optimal response on TVs (specifically when SV4k/Series 2 DMPs are used) for TV On/Off Operation. Sometimes, the TV On/Off commands are dishonored/missed by TVs. Running the script twice increases success rate.
Note: This section provides a highlight of several important considerations for Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director Release 6.4. Read the entire Release Note to obtain all relevant information for this release.
IMPORTANT: Release 6.3 removed the mandatory need to have an Adobe Flash-compatible browser to use Cisco Vision Director. Adobe stopped distributing and updating Flash Player after December 31, 2020. Update to at least Release 6.3 no later than the end of 2020 calendar year.

Also, here’s a link to a field notice:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/720/fn72069.html
IMPORTANT: We removed the switch import capability in Release 6.3 because the switches that Cisco Vision Director supported in the past no longer work when security updates were applied on their firmware. We are exploring similar functionality for newer switches / firmware in a future release.

Caution: A Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director system that is using language support from Release 6.4, will lose that support when upgraded until language packs for the new release are available and installed.
Internationalization (known as i18n) support refers to the software infrastructure that is designed to accommodate multiple language translations (localization) without requiring additional engineering changes to that software.
The Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director Release 6.4 software supports i18n for the following general areas of the solution:
Localization (known as L10n) refers to the implementation of the specific regional language translation support within a software interface that has been designed for i18n. English is the default language.
Note: Certain locales are not supported, such as right-to-left languages.
Note: Language packs are release-specific. They follow the release of a Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director version. Install available language packs after you install or upgrade to a release. Language packs are posted in the same download location on cisco.com as the release.
Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director Release 6.4 provides the flexibility to upload and install only the specific language(s) that you want to support through the independent installation of Language Packs. The upload and installation of the language packs is performed using the Software Manager from the Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director main menu. For more information about how to install language packs, see the Cisco Vision Software Installation and Upgrade Guide: Dynamic Signage Director Release 6.4.
The supported languages in Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director Release 6.4.0-183 and later are:
■English (en_US). This is the default locale in all Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director releases.
For more information about requirements and restrictions in configuring localization in Cisco StadiumVision Director, including IP phone support, see the Cisco StadiumVision Director Localization Guide.
