Introduction
This document describes the error "Failure: Unable to update boot configuration" when the administrator tries to update boot priority on StarOS (ASR 5000, ASR 5500, Virtual Packet Core) products.
Problem
The error is reported when the boot system priority is updated:
[local]StarOS(config-ctx)# boot system priority 44 image /flash/AAA.B.C.ABCDE.Production.bin config /flash/latest.cfg
Failure: Unable to update boot configuration
Solution
The error means that the configuration file is opened by another user.
1. Clear connected user and re-try to save the configuration. The command show administrators session id shows connected administrators and their session ID.
# show administrators session id
# clear administrators session id <id>
# clear administrators name <name>
2. Perform management card migration to clear any user connected to the node.
# card switch from <card number> to <card number>
