CSCvu22621 | Add support for Die Shrink RLDRAM for Cylons |
The cBR-8 line card with the new Reduced Latency Dynamic Random-Access Memory (RLDRAM) Controller (Version ID (VID) V09 and higher) requires a different FPGA image. As a result, it will not fully boot if inserted in chassis that run Cisco IOS® Release 17.2 or earlier.
The updated Cisco cBR-8 line card is being released with a new RLDRAM Controller due to the obsolescence of the current RLDRAM Controller by the manufacturer. This line card requires the cBR-8 system to run with Cisco IOS XE Release 17.3.1w or later.
This new version of line card (V09) is marked with a yellow label on the card as well as on the handle.
The cBR-8 line cards with the new RLDRAM Controller (V09 and higher) will not fully boot if inserted in chassis that run Cisco IOS Release 17.2 or earlier.
These errors might be observed on the console when new line cards (V09 and higher) are inserted in systems that run Cisco IOS Release 17.2 or earlier.

These messages indicate that the line card has crashed. A core file will be generated and stored in /harddisk/core. If redundancy is configured for this line card, a line card switchover will be initiated. If there is no redundancy, the line card will be in a boot/crash loop, which creates new core files each time.
Customers should upgrade the cBR-8 system software to Cisco IOS XE Release 17.3.1w or later before installing the new cBR-8 line cards which contain the new RLDRAM Controller. This is true whether the line card is received as a result of a new order or due to a Return Material Authorization (RMA).
