CSCvg06243 | A900-PWR900-D2 PSU Input Voltage Feed Reporting Issue |
The A900-PWR900-D2 power supply unit (PSU) fails to report an alarm when the secondary feed fails, which is due to an open breaker on this feed.
Cisco has discovered a bug in one of the A900-PWR900-D2 PSUs used in NCS4200 and ASR900 chassis. Due to this bug, the PSU does not report an alarm when the secondary feed is removed from the system.
The 900W DC PSU has dual feeds, A and B, that use a breaker system.
In the process of using dual feeds, a failure is not reported if the breaker opens up for the secondary feed. It also shows a voltage close to the primary feed, which is due to leakage voltage from the primary feed to the secondary feed.
Note: This is not a safety hazard.
Cisco recommends that the PSU with version -01 be replaced with the fixed version -02.
A PSU with version V01 can be identified by the sticker placed on the unit.
The PSU version number can be identified with the show inventory command, which lists all the Product IDs (PIDs) installed in the chassis. For the PSU, the output will be displayed as shown in this example:
NAME: "Power Supply Module 0", DESCR: "ASR900/NCS4200 900W DC Power Supply" PID: A900-PWR900-D2 , VID: V01 , SN: LXXXXXXXXXX
Note: VID : V01 indicates that it is an affected PSU.
