CSCtg28040 | Software fix will be in version 4.1.5f of the WAAS software once available |
When using the new Windows patch (KB980232), our testing has shown that the file "save/save as" operation may not be successful when WAAS CIFS optimization is turned on.
Microsoft published a Windows Operating System patch (KB980232) on April 13, 2010 to address some reported vulnerabilities in SMB clients. As part of the patch, Microsoft updated the manner in which the SMB clients handle SMB responses and validate fields within the SMB response. As a result, the patch requires a related update to the WAAS CIFS optimization for compatibility.
When using the new Windows patch, the file save/save-as operation may not be successful when WAAS CIFS optimization is turned on. A pop-up message indicating "There has been a network or file permisson error. The network connection may be lost" is generated by the client.
Customers running 4.1.X WAAS software the preferred option is to upgrade to 4.1.7 WAAS Software. 4.1.7 WAAS Software fixes issues related to CIFA AO as well as WAFS legacy mode configuration pertaining to the Microsoft patch
Customers can also upgrade to 4.1.5f WAAS software if the fix required is ONLY for CIFS AO configuration pertaining to the Microsoft patch Customers running 4.0.x and do not wish to migrate to 4.1.x software, are recommended to upgrade to version 4.0.27 WAAS software. 4.0.27 WAAS software fixes the CIFS issues related to the WAFS legacy mode configuration pertaining to Microsoft patch.
