Cisco announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Series Supervisor Engine V-10GE. The last day to order the affected product(s) is February 28, 2013. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) as shown in Table 1 of the EoL bulletin. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product(s). Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement. For customers with active and paid service and support contracts, support will be available until the termination date of the contract, even if this date exceeds the Last Date of Support shown in Table 1.

This announcement is related to EOL8162, in which the end-of-sale date for the Cisco Supervisor Engine V-10GE is October 2012. Customers are encouraged to migrate from the Cisco 4500E Series Supervisor Engine V-10GE to the Cisco 4500E Series Supervisor Engine 7-E or 7L-E. Supervisor Engines 7-E and 7L-E provide unprecedented 848 Gbps and 520 Gbps system performance with 48 Gbps per slot to every line card.
The Catalyst 9400 is the next generation of the industry’s most widely deployed Catalyst 4500 enterprise switching platform. Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco Catalyst 9400. These modular access switches are built for security, Internet of Things (IoT), and the cloud. The platform provides unparalleled investment protection with a chassis architecture that is capable of supporting up to 9Tbps of system bandwidth and unmatched power delivery for high density IEEE 802.3BT (60W PoE). Redundancy is now table stakes across the portfolio. The Catalyst 9400 delivers state-of-the-art High Availability (HA) with capabilities like uplink resiliency, N+1/N+N redundancy for power supplies. The platform is enterprise optimized with an innovative dual-serviceable fan tray design, side to side airflow and is closet-friendly with ~16” depth.
